Maya Angelou Inspires 2012Fabric of Society Competition
In every community, people find inspiration in the actions, accomplishments or dignity of someone they know or have heard about. This year, participants will have a chance to write about someone who has inspired them, or about something they may have done to inspire others. De La Rosa & Co. invites participants to write an original and creative essay based on the following observation by noted writer Maya Angelou:
"Each of us, famous or infamous, is a
role model for somebody, and if we aren't, we should behave as though we are – cheerful, kind, loving, courteous. Because you can be sure someone is watching and taking deliberate and diligent notes."
~ Maya Angelou
Seniors from 25 high schools across California will compete in the 2012 Fabric of Society competition. De La Rosa & Co. will award at least one $2,000 scholarship at each school.

DLR Awarded 30 Scholarships in 2011
Last year, De La Rosa & Co. awarded $2,000 scholarships to 30 high school seniors across California. Seniors from participating public schools submitted nearly 200 essays based on President Theodore Roosevelt’s observation that, “In a moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing.” Nine of the winners are seen below.
